Construction & operating principle

A culture flask provides an observable growth space whose surface, closure and medium depth shape the cellular environment. Adherent cultures need suitable attachment conditions, while suspension cultures have different priorities. A vented cap controls a gas-exchange path rather than merely making opening easier. The vessel does not replace incubator control of temperature and gas composition.

Typical uses

  • Expansion of adherent cells
  • Microscopic observation during culture development
  • Suspension culture in a suitably assessed flask format

Use & maintenance

  1. 01

    Seeding

Distribute cells evenly and keep the growth surface level to limit local density differences.

  2. 02

    Observation

Monitor morphology, medium colour and liquid depth without unnecessary opening.

  3. 03

    Passaging

Limit exposure during recovery and avoid scratches that interfere with microscopy.

Product questions

Why do similar-volume flasks yield different cell numbers?

Growth area, surface treatment and medium depth may differ substantially.

Does a vented cap prevent all contamination?

It addresses one gas pathway; packaging condition and aseptic handling throughout the workflow remain essential.
